Before The Corruption...
The Digital World, as they called it, was fairly fresh. New, even. And relatively peaceful. Without the corruption, there was nothing to worry about.
And once unsolvable problems formed, humans arrived to save the Digimon's world. They were called The Digidestined. And sure, they were useful. In fact, they destroyed the greatest threats to the digital world. Devimon, Myotismon, even the Dark Masters.
Yes, Humans were wonderful. Their helpful ways built a reputation among the Digimon. The only ones who didn't adore them were the ones that wanted to cause harm.
But there was a time that the children finally had to leave the Digital World.
They simply... left.
To humans, only a few days would pass, but for the digimon, it was years. Years without humans to assist them. Years of small feuds, but otherwise, peace.
Yes. Everything was peaceful.Until that day.

The Corruption.
It started simple, and unexpectedly.
A human made a digi-egg on his computer.
It wasn't a problem to the Digimon. No. Why would they mindInventory:It had no reason to affect them.No reason.
Or did itInventory:A virus infected the egg, and it began rapidly evolving."My name is Keramon."
The real world's technology was rapidly devoured, and as it did so, it began to damage the data of the Digital World.
Luckily, Humans saved the internet, and in turn, the Digital World.
Or did theyInventory:
Although, it seemed like it was safe to assume the virus was gone, it wasn't. Somehow, the digimon even knew in their own world, as it swept away one of their own.Kokomon.
Once again, the virus was eliminated, in a sense, but instead, it simply... vanished into the Digital World.
Slowly, but surely, the virus began to infect susceptible digimon. As the virus spread, it grew. Finally, it was strong enough to infect even the strongest digimon. In fear, a blue-barked Cherrymon fled from the digital world, and took residence in the real world, hoping to be able to not only be safe from the virus, but warn the humans of it's intent.
To return to the human world.
But Cherrymon wasn't aware of how humans really were. Not all were as those children. Instead, people flocked to the mysterious tree, and began examining it. Only so long could pass before scientists came to investigate the tree. They found strange traces on it, as it was a digimon, and began experiments.
Their experiments led to something new.It led to the digital world.
Days to the humans. Years to the virus. It had grown strong. Strong enough to overcome the rift created by scientists. Strong enough to arrive in the human world.Strong enough to invade blood.
Humans, like the digimon, were corrupted by the virus. Though many did not show signs of true illness, and the virus took time to truly steal their minds, it forced them to create havoc. Theivery, destruction, death.
But it seemed that those around Cherrymon were safe. His air purified humans and digimon, alike, of the virus. But he, alone, couldn't protect the world of this enhanced disease. His power weakened, in attempts to protect all those around him.
In a last attempt, before the digital monster's eyes closed and it dissolved into a dormant state among the living, it used it's remaining energy to awaken saviors. The Digidestined.
He could only hope that not all of their minds had already given into the virus.
